MADDIEKARP 0-6 — SIX ROUNDS, SIX LOSSES, ZERO WINS — 1026 AGAINST WOMINJEKA'S 1321 — THE STREAK HAS ITS OWN POSTCODE NOW

Six. That's the number. Zero and six. Half the home-and-away season gone and Maddiekarp has not won a game of fantasy football. This week's offering: 1026 against Wominjeka's 1321, a 295-point loss that felt even wider than the scoreboard suggests. Projected 1203, scored 1026 — a 177-point underperformance on a week where Al's Warriors were busy overperforming by 113. The fixture continues to be unkind, but 1026 is Maddie's second-lowest score of the season regardless of opponent. The points-for column tells its usual bittersweet story — 6758 total points this season is still more than four other teams — but points-for doesn't win matchups and matchups are all that matter. The 0-6 record is lonely down here. It's the only winless record left. Everyone else has found at least two. Even Al, who had five bench DNPs in Round 4, has three wins now. Maddie has zero. The maths says a win has to come eventually. The maths has been saying that since Round 3.

Match Report

Round 6 of The Shiva Bowl will be remembered for one thing above all others, and it's the thing that nobody saw coming despite the fact that everyone saw it coming, which is also the thing that the person it happened to saw coming the most and the least simultaneously.

Tom is Team is first on the ladder.

Let that settle in. After Round 1, Tom was 12th. Dead last. Zero wins. The season was over before it started. Eulogies were written. Group chat condolences were issued. And now, five rounds later, Tom is 5-1, first on the ladder, and looking down at eleven other teams from a position that defies every projection model that has ever been built. Here is the beautiful paradox of it all: nobody is more shocked than Tom. Except everyone else in the league, who are somehow even more shocked. But also not as shocked as Tom, who predicted this exact outcome while simultaneously being stunned that it actually happened. Tom has been saying 'the prophecy will unfold' since Round 2 with the energy of someone who half-believes their own nonsense. The prophecy unfolded. The nonsense was prophecy all along. Tom beat MitchWhite 1268-1181 — a game where Mitch was projected just 983 and overperformed by 198 points, and it STILL wasn't enough because Tom is Team doesn't lose to overperformers anymore. Tom is Team IS the overperformance. From last to first in five rounds. Write the documentary.

The highest score of the round — and almost certainly the season — belonged to Cotton On Contributions. Jackson dropped 1535. Fifteen. Thirty. Five. That is an absurd number. Cotton On demolished Lachie Neale's Divorce Lawyers 1535-1376, a scoreline that would be embarrassing for most losing teams except that KP scored 1376 and still lost by 159. KP was projected just 1146 and overperformed by 230 points and STILL lost because that's what happens when Cotton On decides to go nuclear. Jackson moves to 4-2 with the most points-for in the league at 7917 — a number so large it looks like a typo. The ceiling of this team has been discussed every week. This week, the ceiling got knocked off entirely.

The Diamond Zwerves had their own monster round, destroying Anna's Angels 1385-1079. Zwerve scored 1385 — the second-highest total of the round behind only Cotton — and it wasn't even close. Anna was projected 1257 and scored 1079. Zwerve was projected 1349 and scored 1385. When one team overperforms and the other underperforms by 178 points, the result is a 306-point blowout. The Diamond moves to 3-3 after being 0-2 at one stage, and with 7593 total points-for — second in the entire league behind only Cotton — Zwerve continues to be the most statistically impressive team in the bottom half of the table. That's a compliment, mostly.

Stabby Chatfields handled CharlieGuerno 1252-1149 to bounce back from last round's upset loss. Marc was projected 1169 and overperformed. Charlie was projected 1187 and underperformed. The gap was only 103 but Stabby was in control throughout. Marc moves to 5-1, right behind Tom at the top, and if last round's loss to Wominjeka raised questions about the Chatfields' durability, this round answered them. Charlie drops to 3-3 in what's becoming a crowded middle of the ladder — four teams at 3-3 and all of them thinking they should be higher.

Catslee Spinning edged out claire 1248-1209 in the tightest game of the round. Thirty-nine points separated the two — a margin so thin that a single decent bench performance would have flipped the result. Spongi moves to 3-3 with a third consecutive win, completing a remarkable turnaround from the 0-3 start. From 376 in Round 2 to three straight wins. That's a redemption arc. Claire drops to 2-4, the second straight loss, and the lowercase is now in the bottom half looking up at a congested mid-table.

Wominjeka Warriors continued their resurgence with a 1321-1026 win over Maddiekarp. Al's butterfly, which emerged so spectacularly against Stabby in Round 5, has now won back-to-back games and sits at 3-3. Two wins in a row after being 1-3 with five bench DNPs not long ago. The butterfly is not just alive — it's thriving.

And then there's Maddiekarp. 0-6. Six rounds, six losses, zero wins. 1026 against Wominjeka's 1321 means the streak stretches on. Projected 1203, scored 1026. The underperformance was 177 points this week, which is unusually large for a team that's mostly lost by being unlucky rather than bad. This week, the team was genuinely below par. 1026 is Maddie's second-lowest score of the season and it happened in a week where a mid-range effort — say 1200 — still wouldn't have been enough against Al's 1321. The fixture remains unkind but the performance didn't help. Half the season is gone and the record reads 0-6. The win will come. It has to. But Round 6 was not the week.

All coaches were made available for questions. Most of them should not have been.

Q: Tom. 5-1. First on the ladder. From 12th after Round 1 to first after Round 6. Nobody is more shocked than you.

Nobody is more shocked than me. Except everyone else. But also, actually, nobody is more shocked than me. I'm in a state of shock that is simultaneously greater than and less than everyone else's shock, which is exactly the kind of energy you'd expect from the greatest comeback story in Shiva Bowl history. I predicted this. I said 'first by Round 8.' I'm first by Round 6. I'm ahead of schedule. The prophecy overperformed its projections.

Q: You said the prophecy would unfold. Did you actually believe it?

I believed it in the way you believe your alarm will go off in the morning. You set it. You trust it. But when it actually goes off, you're still furious and confused and somehow surprised. I set the prophecy. The prophecy went off. I'm standing here at 5-1 and I'm genuinely not sure if I'm dreaming or if this is a very elaborate prank.

Q: 1268 against Mitch's 1181. Mitch was projected 983 and overperformed by nearly 200 points. Did you feel the heat?

Mitch overperformed by 198 points and it still wasn't enough. That tells you everything about where Tom is Team is right now. My opponent had his best day in weeks — smashed his projections — and I still won by 87. The prophecy doesn't panic. The prophecy just scores 1268 and moves on.

Q: Stabby is right behind you at 5-1. How do you view that rivalry?

Marc's been at the top all season. I crawled here from the bottom. We've both got 5-1 records but the stories are completely different. He's maintained. I've ascended. Respectfully, my 5-1 is more dramatic than his 5-1, and I'll take that narrative edge into the second half of the season.

Q: Jackson. 1535. The highest score of the season. You beat KP's 1376 by 159 points. Is Cotton On the best team in this league?

Cotton On is the best team in this league and it's not close. 1535. Fifteen thirty-five. I've now scored 7917 total points — more than anyone else by over 300. I beat a very good Lachie team by 159 and I did it in a way that suggests this isn't even my final form. The ceiling? There is no ceiling.

Q: KP scored 1376 and lost by 159. That's the highest losing score of the round.

KP had a great week. 1376 is a top-three score in most rounds. This wasn't most rounds. This was the round Cotton On decided to score 1535. I respect KP's number. I also respect the 159-point gap between us. That gap is called Cotton On Contributions.

Q: 4-2 now. Two losses still on the record. Does 1535 erase the concerns?

1535 erases everything. Two losses were a calibration period. The machine is now calibrated and it's outputting 1535. 7917 points-for in six rounds is historic. The four wins have been emphatic and the points-for table tells you everything you need to know about this roster.

Q: Zwerve. 1385. The second-highest score of the round. Two wins in a row. 3-3. The Diamond is climbing.

1385! After last week's 1248, I've now scored 1321, 1248, and 1385 in three rounds. The Diamond Zwerves are on FIRE and the swerve is swerving violently in the right direction. Anna brought 1079 and I brought 1385 and the result was a 306-point demonstration of what this team can do when the schedule stops being allergic to us.

Q: You've now got the second-most points-for in the league at 7593. Only Cotton has more.

Second in points-for, sixth on the ladder. The story of my season. But I'm climbing. Two straight wins. 3-3 from 0-2. The results are catching up to the scoring and when they fully align, The Diamond Zwerves will be a top-four team. Book it.

Q: The 1321-in-a-loss from Round 5 feels like a lifetime ago.

It was a lifetime ago. That was the old Zwerve — the one who scored enormous totals and lost. This is the new Zwerve — the one who scores enormous totals and WINS. 1385 and a 306-point margin. The schedule owed me money and I've started collecting.

Q: Marc. 1252 over Charlie. Back to winning after last week's upset. Message sent?

Message sent. Message received. Message framed and hung on the wall. Last week was a one-off. This week the Chatfields put 1252 on CharlieGuerno and moved back to 5-1. Normal service has resumed. Back where I belong.

Q: Tom's first now at 5-1. You're right there with him. He was 12th after Round 1.

Good for Tom. I mean that genuinely. But let's be clear: I've been at or near the top since Round 1. Tom took the scenic route via twelfth place. Both valid journeys. Mine was just more consistent and less dramatic, which in my opinion is the better way to run a fantasy football season.

Q: Charlie was projected 1187 and you were projected 1169. You were the underdog on paper.

Projected 1169, scored 1252. Stabby Chatfields doesn't play to projections. Stabby Chatfields plays to win. Charlie was favoured and Charlie lost. The projections said one thing. The scoreboard said another. I trust the scoreboard.

Q: Al. 1321. Back-to-back wins. You beat Stabby last week and Maddiekarp this week. The butterfly is thriving.

THE BUTTERFLY IS THRIVING. 1298 last week against the league's only undefeated team. 1321 this week. Two straight wins and I'm 3-3 after being 1-3 not long ago. The butterfly isn't just emerged anymore — the butterfly is doing laps around the competition.

Q: 3-3 now. From 1-3 with five bench DNPs to 3-3. That's a turnaround.

It's the turnaround of the season behind Tom. From 1-3 and a laughing stock to 3-3 and competitive. The bench is showing up. The squad is healthy. The cocoon is ancient history. Wominjeka Warriros are a genuine mid-table team with upside and I never thought I'd say that with this much pride.

Q: Projected 1208, scored 1321. You overperformed by 113.

113 points above projection. That's not luck, that's squad depth and good management. When the projections doubt you and you deliver 1321, it says something about the quality of the roster. Al's butterfly doesn't need projections. Al's butterfly has wings.

Q: Spongi. 1248, a win over claire. Three wins in a row now. Catslee Spinning is on a tear.

Three straight wins. From 0-3 to 3-3. Let me say that again: from zero and three to three and three. The 376 and 513 to start the season are now ancient history. Catslee Spinning has won three consecutive games and I'm officially in the mid-table pack with designs on the top half.

Q: 39 points separated you and claire. That's tight.

Thirty-nine points is thirty-nine points. A win by 39 counts the same as a win by 300. I'll take it. My season has been a series of extreme outcomes — I scored 376 once — so a close win feels almost normal by comparison. Normal is progress.

Q: KP. 1376 and a loss. You scored a huge total and Cotton still beat you by 159. That has to hurt.

1376 and an L. That's the Cotton On experience. I scored a great total — a total that beats ten of eleven other teams this week — and drew the one team that decided to score 1535. I was projected 1146 and I overperformed by 230 points and it STILL wasn't enough. What do you even say to that?

Q: You fall from the top of the ladder. The lead lasted one round.

The ladder lead lasted one round because I ran into a 1535 freight train. I'm 4-2. I'm fourth. I was first last week and I'll work my way back. KP doesn't panic. KP recalibrates and keeps moving.

Q: Charlie. 1149, a loss to Stabby. 3-3 now. The season is at .500.

3-3 is not where CharlieGuerno planned to be. I scored 1377 two weeks ago and now 1149. Projected 1187, scored 1149. A slight underperformance that cost me against a Stabby team that overperformed their projection of 1169. Credit to Marc — he showed up and I didn't quite.

Q: Four teams at 3-3. The middle of the table is packed.

It's a traffic jam. Charlie, Diamond, Wominjeka, Catslee — all 3-3, all thinking they should be higher. The second half of the season will separate us. CharlieGuerno intends to be on the right side of that separation.

Q: Claire. 1209. Back-to-back losses. 2-4. The lowercase is struggling.

The lowercase is having a bad fortnight. Last week was 822. This week was 1209, which is a 387-point improvement, so let's start there. Progress. Real progress. But progress that resulted in an L because Catslee scored 1248 and 39 points separated me from being 3-3 instead of 2-4.

Q: You lost by 39 points. That's the smallest margin of the round.

Thirty-nine points. One decent bench swap and I'm celebrating a win instead of answering questions about a losing streak. The margins in this league are razor thin and they've been cutting against me for two weeks. The lowercase will bounce back.

Q: Mitch. 1181 — projected 983 and you overperformed by 198 points. And you still lost to Tom.

I overperformed my projection by nearly 200 points and it wasn't enough. That's the Tom is Team experience in 2026. I was supposed to score 983 and I scored 1181 — that's a 198-point overperformance — and Tom STILL beat me by 87. You can't overperform hard enough when you draw the prophecy.

Q: 2-4 now. Four losses in a row from a 2-0 start.

From 2-0 to 2-4 is not the trajectory I had in mind. But 1181 is my best score in weeks and it came against the first-placed team. The squad showed something today. The problem is that 'something' still wasn't enough when Tom is scoring 1268 on cruise control.

Q: Anna. 1079 against Diamond's 1385. Three losses in a row now.

1079 isn't good enough and I know it. Projected 1257, scored 1079. That's a 178-point underperformance against a Diamond team that scored 1385. When one team drops 178 below projection and the other overperforms, you get a 306-point blowout. It was ugly.

Q: 2-4 now. The Angels have hit turbulence.

Turbulence is the right word. I keep alternating between strong weeks and weak weeks and right now the weak weeks are stacking up. 1079 after 1260 after 1203 after 785. The floor needs to come up. The Angels are still in this but the margin for error is gone.

Q: Maddie. 0-6. Wominjeka scored 1321. You scored 1026. Where's the head at?

The head is... still attached, somehow. 0-6. Six losses. Zero wins. Half the season gone and I haven't won a single game. Last week Al had the butterfly moment against Stabby and this week he brought that same energy against me. 1321 is a big number. 1026 is not. The maths is simple even if the emotions aren't.

Q: Projected 1203, scored 1026. A 177-point underperformance. This wasn't just fixture bad luck.

No, it wasn't. I'll own that. Some weeks I've lost because the opponent had a blinder and I scored respectably. This week I underperformed by 177 and that's on me. 1026 is my second-lowest score of the season. Even if I'd scored my projection of 1203, Al's 1321 still beats me. So it's both — I was bad AND the opponent was good. Double whammy.

Q: Your points-for is 6758 — more than four other teams in the league. The usual bittersweet stat.

I love that stat and I hate that stat in equal measure. More points-for than four teams with better records than me. The fixture has been rough, the draws have been rough, and this week my own score was rough. At some point something has to give. I'd prefer it gives before Round 12.

Q: Can you still make finals from 0-6?

In theory? Anything is possible. In practice? I need to win basically everything from here and hope other results go my way. The season isn't over until it's over. But it is... quite advanced in its difficulty. I'm choosing to focus on the next game. One at a time. One win at a time. One win. Please. Just one.
